Introducing Ricardo Lewis, Associate Editor
Associate Editor
The staff of the Capital Outlook newspaper and Live Communications would like to thank each and every reader and subscriber for your continued support of the newspaper. We here at the Capital Outlook, although still in transformation, are committed to bringing you information that is informative, educational and uplifting. I, as the new associate editor for the Capital Outlook hope to jump right in and lend a hand at making the Capital Outlook the most it can be for my community.
This area has the unique distinction of being the political hotbed for Floridians. Each year tension fills the air as politicians battle for different political positions on a local and state level. The Tallahassee area has grown accustomed to spirited and heated political races. These races express the very spirit of democracy, as candidates aspire to all reach a common goal (making decisions that are good for the people as a whole) but through different platforms, ideas and causes.
Here at the Capital Outlook we believe that the privilege of being able to vote is the single most important part of the political process. For months voters listen to candidates state their philosophy for making the living conditions of their constituents better. The voters then go out to the polls and choose whom they feel are the best candidates to represent them in the various positions that make up our local, state and national governments.
The Capital Outlook also believes that the most effective voter is one who is educated on the platforms, experience, and backgrounds of the candidates for whom they vote. It is this belief that has inspired the Capital Outlook and WTAL 1450 AM, to sponsor a series of events that we hope will help to better inform the community about the candidates running for office in the Tallahassee area.
On July 30, the staff of the Capital Outlook will meet with area candidates in hopes of getting a better understanding of their positions and platforms on different issues concerning the citizens of Tallahassee. Also for the next several weeks candidates will be given the opportunity to appear on WTAL 1450 AM, during the It’s All About The Family radio show which airs at 3:00 p.m. each day.
The following is a schedule of the races that will be featured as a part of the Candidate Highlight series:
July 21-State Senator, District
6 July 22-School Board, District 5
July 23-County Commission, District 5
July 28-City Commission, Seat 3
July 29-City Commission, Seat 5
August 4-Circuit Judge, Circuit 2, Group 9
August 11-State Representative, District 9
August 12-Mayor

In addition to the radio special on WTAL 1450 AM the Capital Outlook will feature special editions that will contain profiles of the candidates in what we consider the major races of the area. That schedule is as follows:
July 22: US House of Representative, District 2 State Senator, District 6 School Board, District 5
July 29: County Commission, District 5 City Commission, Mayor City Commission, Seat 3 City Commission, Seat 5
August 5: State Representative, District 9 Circuit Judge, Circuit 2, Group 9 County Commission, At-Large, Group 2
Even though we feel that every race in the area is important, due to space limitations we are not able to feature each and every race. We will do our best to answer questions to the best of our ability about any candidate, race or issue.
Thank you again for your continued support of the Capital Outlook newspaper.
